*Fayetteville, NC* – The Augusta GreenJackets (Atlanta Braves) picked up a dominant shutout win, battling the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Houston Astros) and three rain delays to take an 8-0 win. Fayetteville (6-10, 36-46) did not record a hit with runners in scoring position, while Augusta (8-9, 39-43) got a four-hit performance from Justin Janas and two home runs from Jeremy Celedonio in the victory. .

For the second straight day, the first pitch was delayed just under an hour. After the weather cleared, the lefty Samuel Strickland made his second start of the season for Augusta on the backs of an eight-strikeout performance in Augusta’s win a week ago.

Both teams brought men aboard in the first, with Justin Janas and E.J. Exposito reaching on hits for the GreenJackets, but neither team was able to score until the third. Tyler Collins led off the inning with a walk and stole second, before Janas doubled him home to put the GreenJackets up 1-0. After the third inning, the game entered a second rain delay, and on the first pitch back from the break Jeremy Celedonio hit his team-leading 12th homer to double the lead.

Not content with just the one homer, Celedonio followed up a Janas walk with a two-run blast, notching his second multi-homer game of the season. This put Augusta up 5-0 through five innings, before the game entered its third rain delay, this one lasting over an hour. The GreenJackets hardly missed a beat, with Landon Harper entering in the sixth and maintaining Strickland’s shutout.

Meanwhile, the bats stayed hot for the Jackets. After Janas reached with his third hit of the day in the seventh, Bryson Worrell doubled him home, before Augusta tacked on two more in the eighth. Janas would end up reaching five times, recording four hits and a walk along with an RBI. Jason Franks pitched a scoreless ninth inning as Augusta locked down the shutout win, 8-0.
