Jang Matches Career High with 10 K’s & Morales Homers in Second Straight Game in 13-5 Victory

DAYTON, Ohio. – The Great Lakes Loons (57-43) (21-15) had everyone in their starting nine earn a hit and their pitching struck out 15 Dayton Dragons (55-47) (16-20) in a 13-5 win on an 86-degree partly cloudy Wednesday night at Day Air Ballpark.

- Great Lakes starter Hyun-Seok Jang struck out 10 Dragons, tying a career-best. The right-hander retired his first 10 in a row, seven looking or swinging. His first 10 innings in the Midwest League, he did not permit a run.

- Emil Morales homered for the second straight game, for the fourth time in Dayton this season and 20th overall in 2026. Morales hit six in Low-A Ontario and earned his 14th as a Loon with a two-out three-run home run in the fifth inning.

- Jaron Elkins drove in four runs. He went opposite field with a two-run double in the fifth inning and hit a two-run single to center field in the sixth.

- Chuck Davalan had three hits, a two-run homer in the sixth inning. The Dodgers No. 6 prospect leads the Loons with 18. Eduardo Quintero doubled twice, bringing home a run in the seventh. The 20-year-old stole his 37th base of the season in the sixth inning.

- The Loons bullpen walked eight but earned five strikeouts. Robby Porco earned the final three outs.

- Dayton tallied two runs in the fifth inning and three in the eighth. Dragons’ second baseman Alfredo Alcantara posted two RBI.

Rounding Things Out

The Loons have had back-to-back games with a starter striking out 10+ batters. Great Lakes had two starters in 130 games last season with a double-digit strikeout game. Patrick Copen punched out 10+ in three outings in 2025, and Adam Serwinowski struck out 12 West Michigan Whitecaps on August 29, 2025.
