Janson Junk Wins Northeast League Pitcher of the Week

Bridgewater, New Jersey- The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, have announced that RHP Janson Junk has been named Double-A Northeast Pitcher of the Week for June 15th through June 20th.

Bridgewater, New Jersey- The Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees Double-A affiliate, have announced that RHP Janson Junk has been named Double-A Northeast Pitcher of the Week for June 15th through June 20th.

Junk threw six innings Friday night against the Richmond Flying Squirrels. He allowed a run on one hit and four strikeouts while retiring the first 12 batters he faced. The right-hander leads all qualified minor league pitchers with a 1.03 ERA and has only allowed more than one earned run in a single outing through eight appearances this season .

Junk now joins fellow Patriot pitchers LHP JP Sears and RHP Glenn Otto to win the award this season. Diego Castillo and Michael Beltre have also won the Player of the Week awards.
