BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Toronto Blue Jays announced Thursday that left-handed pitcher Jimmy Robbins has been promoted from the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate, to the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons.

Robbins started 23 games for the Fisher Cats the past two seasons, going 4-8 with a 4.71 ERA in 18 starts this year. He was named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week last month after striking out seven batters and allowing just two hits in 7.1 scoreless innings July 7 at Hartford.

In a corresponding move, the Blue Jays signed right-handed pitcher Joe Jones to a minor-league deal and assigned him to the Fisher Cats. Jones is a former member of the Red Sox and Diamondbacks organizations. In 18 games, three starts, with the Portland Sea Dogs this year, he went 2-1 with a 3.79 ERA. Jones is a 28-year-old from Cookeville, Tenn.

The Fisher Cats continue a six-game road series against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Thursday at 6:35 p.m. and return home for a six-game series against the Reading Fightin Phils Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
