Jose Siri Named to MWL Full-Season All-Star Team

DAYTON, OHIO-The Midwest League today announced its 2017 full-season all-star team and additional player awards. The full-season all-star team consists of nine position players and five pitchers. The team was selected through a vote of Midwest League managers.
Dayton Dragons outfielder Jose Siri was selected as one of three outfielders on the team. Siri is currently batting .296 with 19 home runs, 61 runs batted in, and 39 stolen bases. He ranks among the league leaders in nearly every offensive category:
1st in Hits, Total Bases and Stolen Bases
2nd in Runs
Tied for 2nd in Slugging Percentage and Triples
3rd in Extra Base Hits
Tied for 3rd in Home Runs
4th in Batting Average
Siri produced a 39-game hitting streak from June 22-August 3 that broke the Midwest League record that had stood for 40 years (previous record was 35, by Waterloo's Tony Toups in 1977). With 17 games to play, Siri needs one home run and one stolen base to become the first Midwest League player since 1982 to collect 20 home runs and 40 stolen bases in a season. Siri was also named in Baseball America's survey of Midwest League managers as the "Best Defensive Outfielder" and "Fastest Baserunner" in the league.

Siri becomes the 18th player in Dragons history to be selected to the full-season Midwest League all-star team and the first position player since Billy Hamilton in 2011. Past Dragons honorees have included:

Lansing's Bo Bichette was named today as the 2017 Midwest League Most Valuable Player.
