SAN ANTONIO, Texas (July 3, 2023) – The Frisco RoughRiders blew the doors open early against the San Antonio Missions and took an 11-3 win at Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium on Monday.

Frisco (3-3, 35-39) took a 7-3 lead through three innings and the bullpen held strong against San Antonio (3-3, 40-35) with no runs allowed over five innings.

Evan Carter went 3-for-4 including a solo home run in the first inning. San Antonio tied the game in the bottom of the first but Frisco reclaimed the advantage the ensuing half inning. Aaron Zavala led off with a double, Nick Tanielu and Josh Hatcher chipped in singles, and Scott Kapers added a sacrifice fly.

The two-run second inning was overshadowed by the next frame when the first seven batters all reached base or had a sacrifice fly. Tanielu highlighted the inning with an RBI triple.

Two innings later, Frisco added to the lead when Jax Biggers' fly ball escaped the right field wall for a three-run homer.

In his Double-A debut, Dane Acker went four innings for Frisco allowing three earned runs with five strikeouts. Theo McDowell (2-2) followed by striking out all three batters he faced in the fifth.

Aidan Anderson took care of two innings with no runs and three strikeouts. Eudrys Manon kept the line going with a scoreless eighth inning, and Nick Starr went 1-2-3 in the ninth to close the game.

Hatcher posted three RBIs with two hits and Tanielu went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Kellen Strahm also scored twice, including his sixth inning run after his leadoff double.

Efrain Contreras (4-6) took the loss for San Antonio with six earned runs charged to him in 2.1 innings.

Frisco split the series with the Missions, going 3-3 for the fourth consecutive week.

Frisco returns home Tuesday, July 4th to start a six-game series against the Midland RockHounds. Frisco has not yet announced a starting pitcher, while RHP Jack Perkins (0-0, 5.74 ERA) opens the series for Midland.
