JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp snapped their eight game losing streak on Saturday night as they shutout the Nashville Sounds 10-0 in front of 6,776 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark. The Jumbo Shrimp (18-26) got the offense going early as Xavier Edwards and Tim Anderson knocked consecutive singles.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp snapped their eight game losing streak on Saturday night as they shutout the Nashville Sounds 10-0 in front of 6,776 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark.

The Jumbo Shrimp (18-26) got the offense going early as Xavier Edwards and Tim Anderson knocked consecutive singles. Victor Mesa Jr. walked in the next at-bat to load the bases. Jonah Bride drew a walk from Nashville (22-22) starter Aaron Ashby (L, 0-3) scoring Edwards to give the Jacksonville a 1-0 lead. Two batters later Javier Sanoja walked which scored Anderson.

In the third inning, the Jumbo Shrimp went back to work with Mesa Jr. drawing a walk to start the inning. Bride followed with an RBI double and three batters later Sanoja ripped the second RBI double of the inning which increased the lead to 4-0.

Jacksonville added to their lead in the fourth inning. Edwards led off the inning with a triple and Anderson followed with an RBI single pushing the advantage to 5-0. One batter later, Bride peppered his second RBI double of the game scoring Anderson for a 6-0 cushion.

The run parade continued in the sixth inning. Pinch hitting for Edwards, Griffin Conine drew a walk to start the frame. Anderson followed with a base hit. Three batters later, Jhonny Pereda reached on an error by Sounds outfielder Joey Wiemer that scoring Conine from second, making the score 7-0. Anderson went to third on the error and Troy Johnston lifted a two-run single that scored Anderson and Pereda, pushing the lead to 9-0.

Anderson continued his fantastic day in the eighth inning, launching a solo home run (1) off of Sounds reliever Janson Junk bringing the Jacksonville lead to 10-0.

Eli Villalobos shut down the sounds in the ninth inning, fanning two batters and solidifying the win.

Jacksonville received a stellar performance from starter Yonny Chirinos (W, 4-4) as he struck out six batters over five innings of work and en route to the win.

Jacksonville and Nashville wrap up their series in Sunday’s 2:05 p.m. contest from 121 Financial Ballpark. RHP Roddery Muñoz (0-3, 7.84 ERA) gets the ball for the Jumbo Shrimp and the Sounds will counter with RHP Tyler Woessner (1-2, 11.45).
