An early onslaught of runs from the Biloxi Shuckers were too much for the Rocket City Trash Pandas to overcome in a 13-1 loss on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd of 7,500 at Toyota Field.

Making his first home start for the Trash Pandas, Aaron Hernandez struggled from the outset. RBI doubles from Brice Turang and Luis Castro got the scoring started in the first for the visiting Shuckers.

In the second, the Shuckers added two more on an RBI ground out from Tyler Friis and a successful double steal, allowing Ryan Aguilar to take home plate with the fourth run.

The game unraveled for the Trash Pandas in the third as the Shuckers sent 13 men to the plate, with eight runs coming around to score off Hernandez and reliever Ryan Clark to make it a 12-0 game.

Hernandez (L, 1-1) suffered the loss after giving up 10 runs, nine earned, on seven hits with four walks and four strikeouts over 2.1 innings.

Clark kept the Shuckers off the board in the fourth in fifth before a solo homer from Castro added to the score. Over 3.0 innings in relief, he gave up three runs on six hits with one walk and three strikeouts.

Pitching with a big lead, Biloxi starter Ethan Small (W, 2-2) was sharp for the duration of his outing. Over 7.0 scoreless innings, he recorded nine strikeouts and gave up just three hits to get the win.

Adrian Almeida followed Clark out of the bullpen for the Trash Pandas and threw 1.2 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Keith Rogalla and Nathan Bates combined to pitch the final two frames without giving up a run.

The Trash Pandas finally broke through in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single from Izzy Wilson to score Dalton Pompey.

Rocket City was held to seven hits in the loss, with Wilson and David MacKinnon each recording a pair of hits including a double.
