BILOXI, MS - Brewers right-handed pitcher Junior Guerra has been officially activated to the Biloxi Shuckers on a rehab assignment and will start tonight's 6:35 pm contest against the Mississippi Braves at MGM Park. MLB rehab assignments do not count against a club's active roster. Guerra has not yet been assigned a number.
The 32-year-old Guerra had a breakout 2016 season for the Brewers in which he went 9-3 with a 2.81 ERA in 20 starts. He earned Milwaukee's starting assignment against the Colorado Rockies on Opening Day this year, but suffered a right calf injury and had to leave the game after three innings.

In the five weeks since his injury, Guerra has faced his teammates in simulated situations but has not played in a game. Guerra threw a 60-pitch simulated game at Miller Park on Wednesday afternoon and reported no setbacks. According to Brewers manager Craig Counsell, Guerra is expected to make at least two starts on his rehab assignment before returning to the club. Minor league rules allow for major league players to join clubs on rehab assignments without counting against their 25-man roster limit.
