U-32's Kellington To Start Saturday For Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT --- Six days after leading U-32 High School to the Vermont Division 2 Baseball championship at historic Centennial Field, Owen Kellington will return to the Centennial mound on Saturday when he makes his Lake Monsters debut as the starting pitcher in Vermont's Futures League game vs. the Westfield Starfires beginning at 6:05 pm.
Kellington, who is graduating from U-32 today, went 7-0 with four saves and a 0.18 ERA in 12 appearances (8 starts) for the Raiders during the 2020 season. The right-hander out of Calais, VT allowed just 3 runs (only 1 earned) on 7 hits over 49 innings pitched with 11 walks and 133 strikeouts (19 K's per 9 IP). At the plate, Kellington hit .636 (35-for-55) with 36 runs, 14 doubles, 9 homers and 31 RBI.
In the championship game 5-0 win last Saturday vs. Spaulding, Kellington hit a 2-run homer over both sets of advertising fences in rightfield as the starting shortstop and then pitched the final 3 innings (struckout 7 of 11 batters faced) to clinch the title. During the regular season, he threw a pair of 15-strikeout no-hitters on May 4th and 11th before a 14-strikeout one-hitter on May 18th and striking out 17 over 6 innings on May 25th. During the playoffs, Kellington tossed a 17-strikeout complete game in a semifinal win over top-seeded Hartford.
