Kelly reaches base four times in 10-2 loss to Fire Frogs

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (June 8, 2017) - Dalton Kelly reached base four times but the Charlotte Stone Crabs gave up a season-high 17 hits in a 10-2 loss to the Florida Fire Frogs Thursday at Charlotte Sports Park.
Kelly is now batting .464 since May 27 (13-for-28 over 12 games).  
The Fire Frogs (23-36) got the scoring going immediately against Tampa Bay Rays rehabber Brad Boxberger (0-1). With one out in the top of the first, Alay Lago socked a solo home run to center to give Florida a 1-0 lead. Tyler Neslony followed with a double to right before Carlos Castro singled him home to make the score 2-0. After singles from Austin Riley and Braxton Davidson loaded the bases, Boxberger fired a wild pitch, allowing Castro to score and make it 3-0.
After the Fire Frogs scored one on a Neslony single in the second, Riley reached on an infield single to start the third. Davidson followed by lining a two-run homer to left center to open up a 6-0 Florida lead. With one out, Jonathan Morales walked before Alejandro Salazar and Anfernee Seymour both singled. Lago then flew out to right to score Morales and make it 7-0.
Stone Crabs righty Roel Ramirez allowed four runs on eleven hits over five innings of relief. He struck out four and walked one.
The Fire Frogs tacked on three more against Stone Crabs reliever Matt Vogel . Vogel struck out three over 2.1 innings in his High-A debut.
Thursday's matchup was the first ever meeting between the Stone Crabs and Fire Frogs. The Fire Frogs joined the Florida State League prior to the 2017 season as an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
The Stone Crabs will look to even the series Friday at 6:35 p.m. Brock Burke will make his High-A debut for the Stone Crabs against Tyler Pike (4-2, 2.13) of Florida. Coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on the Stone Crabs Baseball Network.
