Kernels to host Ribbon Cutting and Open House for Renovations

Cedar Rapids, IA – The Cedar Rapids Kernels will host a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house on Tuesday, April 18th to celebrate the off season renovations to Veterans Memorial Stadium and the addition of The Annex. The event will take place in The Annex, located in the lower parking lot off Rockford Rd. SW at 10:00 AM.

“The ballpark renovations have exceeded our expectations. We look forward to opening the clubhouses so everyone can see the many wonderful changes made during the offseason” says Cedar Rapids Ball Club CEO, Doug Nelson. “A special thanks to the City of Cedar Rapids and the Cedar Rapids Veterans Commission for their support in making these renovations possible.”

All members of the local media and public are welcome to attend this event. The program will begin with a special welcome from Kernels Directors, City of Cedar Rapids officials including Mayor Tiffany O’Donnell, Minnesota Twins Director of Player Development Drew McPhail and contractors.

Following the ribbon-cutting guests will be welcome to tour the renovations and light refreshments will be available.

The Kernels continue their opening series against Quad Cities tonight at 6:35 PM and are home through Sunday, April 16th. Single-game tickets are on sale now.
