(DURHAM, NC) – The Charlotte Knights wrapped up a six-game road series against the Durham Bulls with a 15-8 loss on Sunday night from Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, NC. Sunday’s game also wrapped up a two-week road trip for the Knights, who will return home to Uptown Charlotte on Tuesday evening.
Left fielder Víctor Reyes continued his impressive season and launched his team-high 14th home run of the season. Reyes also added to his team-leading RBI total with two more on Sunday night and now leads the International League in that category with 56 on the season. He also recorded three hits and has 78 on the season and a team-best .321 batting average.
Charlotte shortstop Erik González, who launched a grand slam in Saturday’s game, added three hits in Sunday’s contest. Yolbert Sánchez, Sebastián Rivero and Nate Mondou also chipped in with two hits apiece in the game six loss. In all, the Knights tallied 16 hits in the finale.
LHP Garrett Davila (1-3, 5.65) was saddled with the loss after he allowed nine runs on nine hits over three innings. A total of six Charlotte pitchers combined to allow 15 runs on 16 hits and six home runs. Durham catcher Blake Hunt hit three of his team’s six home runs on the day.
