Knights Fall to Jumbo Shrimp 13-2 on Sunday

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- The Charlotte Knights dropped the finale of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp by a score of 13-2 on Sunday afternoon from Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte. The Knights went 1-5 in the six-game series against the Jumbo Shrimp.
Charlotte’s lone offensive scoring inning came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the team plated two runs. Catcher Sebastián Rivero drove home Charlotte’s first run of the inning on a sacrifice-fly RBI. One batter later, designated hitter Adam Haseley singled home Charlotte’s second and final run of the day.
RHP Chase Solesky (0-4, 9.43) started for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed six runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings pitched.
For Jacksonville, the team once again used the long ball en route to victory. Peyton Burdick, Jerar Encarnaciόn and Austin Allen all homered for the Jumbo Shrimp, who won five of six games in the series. Burdick led the way with three hits for the ‘Shrimp.
The Jumbo Shrimp tacked on five runs in the top of the ninth inning, the highest scoring inning of the day.
The Knights will now have the next four days off (Monday-Thursday) for the All-Star Break and will not play a game again until Friday, July 14 when the team opens a three-game series against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies).
