MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Phil Gosselin and Travis Demeritte each laced triples during a two-run first inning, but the Gwinnett Stripers (2-2) couldn’t hold an early lead in a 4-3 loss to the Memphis Redbirds (2-2) on a 48-degree Friday night at AutoZone Park.

Decisive Play: Gwinnett’s lead stood at 3-2 in the seventh when Ben DeLuzio lifted a two-run homer (1) to left off Nick Vincent (L, 0-2). The clout gave Memphis a 4-3 lead that they would not relinquish.

Key Contributors: Gosselin went 2-for-3 with the triple and a run scored, Demeritte went 1-for-4 with the triple and an RBI, and Chadwick Tromp went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Stripers’ starter Allan Winans yielded two runs on three hits and struck out four over 4.0 innings in a no-decision.

Noteworthy: Winans’ outing marked both his Triple-A debut and first career start. Gosselin is now batting .400 (6-for-15) with a 1.100 OPS in four games this season. Demeritte has reached base safely in 154 of 181 career games (85.1%) with Gwinnett.
