BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – In conjunction with Minor League Baseball, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, announced on Monday that left-handed pitcher Jonathan Santucci was named a 2026 Double-A Eastern League All-Star.
Santucci, who ranks as the Mets’ No. 2 prospect and top pitching prospect, began the season with Double-A Binghamton and went 3-7 with a 3.57 ERA, a .213 batting average against, and 120 strikeouts in 90.2 innings, across 19 starts.
Before his promotion to Triple-A Syracuse on July 28, Santucci ranked among the Eastern League: 1st in strikeouts (120), 1st in batting average against (.213), T-1st in starts (19), 3rd in ERA (3.57), 3rd in WHIP (1.25), and 4th in innings pitched (90.2).
He ranked among the entire Double-A level: 1st in strikeouts, 3rd in BAA, 5th in ERA, 8th in IP, and 8th in WHIP. During his time with Double-A Binghamton this season, the 23-year-old ranked third in Minor League Baseball with 120 strikeouts.
Santucci finished the 2026 campaign with the most strikeouts (163) in Minor League Baseball, across 19 starts with Double-A Binghamton and eight starts with Triple-A Syracuse. He also ranked fifth in the Minors with an 11.74 K/9. It marked the second-straight season that a New York Mets pitching prospect who came through Double-A Binghamton led MiLB in strikeouts, after RHP Jonah Tong recorded 179 strikeouts in 2025.
The New York Mets have had six starting pitching prospects with Double-A Binghamton named to the Eastern League All-Star team across the last four years (2023-26) with at least one in each season: RHP Christian Scott (2023), RHP Brandon Sproat (2024), RHP Joander Suarez (2025), RHP Jonah Tong (2025), RHP Jack Wenninger (2025), and LHP Jonathan Santucci (2026). Sproat and Tong were named Eastern League Pitcher of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
Santucci is Double-A Binghamton’s first Eastern League All-Star since the Rumble Ponies had six players named to the All-Star team in 2025: 1B Ryan Clifford, UTIL Jett Williams, SP Jonah Tong, SP Jack Wenninger, SP Joander Suarez, and RP Douglas Orellana. Reid Brignac was named the 2025 Eastern League Manager of the Year, Tong was the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year and Williams was the Top MLB Prospect.
Santucci was drafted by the Mets in the second round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Duke University. He grew up in Leominster, Massachusetts.
