Springfield, MO - C Gabriel Lino knocked a pair of doubles with four RBIs to help pace the Springfield Cardinals to the 6-4 win against the Arkansas Travelers before 5,395 fans at Hammons Field on Friday night.

The Travelers (1-3, 33-41) seized the early lead out of the gates with one run in the top of the first against RHP Matt Pearce (W, 7-5). After a three-pitch strikeout from Pearce to start the game, SS Joey Wong worked a walk. One out later, DH Dario Pizzano also drew a free pass, putting runners at first and second base. 1B Ryan Casteel then struck with an RBI double, plating Wong for the 1-0 lead.

Pearce got on track with a pair of scoreless innings in the second and third, before Springfield (2-2, 37-37) tied the game in the bottom of the third against LHP Anthony Misiewicz. 3B Casey Turgeon opened the inning with a triple ripped into the right field corner. C Gabriel Lino promptly brought home Turgeon with an RBI sacrifice fly to right field, evening it at 1-1.

Springfield then swung in front with a go-ahead run in the bottom of the fifth inning. DH Anthony García opened the frame with a free pass, before taking second on a wild pitch. Two outs later, Lino placed an RBI double perfectly inside the left field line, scoring Garcia for the 2-1 lead.

However, the Travs battled right back in the top of the sixth. With Wong at first and one away, LF Chuck Taylor sent an RBI double to right-center field, bringing home Wong from first base to tie the game, 2-2.

Pearce kept the tie intact with a scoreless seventh inning to close his outing, before the Cardinals powered in front in the bottom of the seventh. RHP Blake Perry retired his first two batters faced, but 1B Jacob Wilson extended the inning with a two-out double. Turgeon worked a walk to keep the inning alive for Lino, who struck again with a two-run double off the right field fence, scoring both runners for his third and fourth RBIs of the night and the 4-2 lead. Lino then cruised home on an RBI double that was tattooed to right field by LF Magneuris Sierra, opening the Cardinals advantage to 5-2.

Springfield added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth against RHP Darin Gillies. CF Oscar Mercado led off with a double pulled down the left field side. One out later, an RBI double from RF Adolis Garcia, his third hit of the night, brought in Mercado to make it 6-2.

The Travs did not make it easy in the top of the ninth. LHP Ian McKinney, who had tossed a 1-2-3 eighth inning, retired the first batter to start the ninth as well. However, 1B Ryan Casteel then sent a solo shot over the right field fence, before back-to-back singles from RF Kyle Waldrop and C Marcus Littlewood put two men on. 2B Nelson Ward then notched an RBI base hit, scoring Waldrop and putting the two tying runs at first and second base. RHP Corey Baker (S, 3) took over with two on and one down, and slammed the door with a strikeout and a pop out, closing the 6-4 win for the Cardinals.
