PAPILLION, Neb. – Minor League Baseball announced the Pitcher and Player of the Week honors for each of the respective Player Development Leagues and Omaha Storm Chasers catcher Logan Porter was named the International League Player of the Week for his performance the week of April 8 through April 14.

The native of Surprise, Arizona led the league with a 1.400 slugging percentage and 2.050 OPS, going 8-for-15 (.533 average) at the plate during Omaha’s series win over the Gwinnett Stripers. 6 of Porter’s 8 hits went for extra bases, with 2 doubles, 1 triple and 3 home runs for a team-best 21 total bases. He homered in three straight games – April 9, 11 and 12 – and drove in 7 runs, while tying for the team lead with 4 walks and stealing the third base of his career. He ended the week third in the International League in total bases despite only appearing in four games and ranked second among qualifiers in on-base percentage (.650) and fourth in batting average (.533).

Through 10 Triple-A games this season, Porter is slashing .412/.500/.912 (14-for-34) with the Storm Chasers. He is tied for the team lead in home runs (4), ranks second in extra-base hits (8) and total bases (31), while tied second on the Chasers in runs batted in (11) and tied third in hits. If he had enough plate appearances to qualify for the league leaderboards, Porter would lead the International League in average, slugging and OPS (1.412).

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Kansas City Royals out of Dixie State in June 2018, Porter is a two-time MiLB.com Organization All-Star. This marks his second in-season league award, previously recognized as the Appalachian League (rookie) Player of the Month in July 2019 with the Burlington Royals. Porter made his Major League debut with the Royals on September 12, 2023 at Chicago (AL), and appeared in 11 MLB games last season for Kansas City, with 1 home run and 3 runs batted in.

Porter is the first Storm Chaser to win an International League weekly award since left-handed pitcher Daniel Lynch was named the International League Pitcher of the Week for the week of May 22-28, 2023. The last Omaha hitter to be named Player of the Week was catcher Freddy Fermin, recognized for his efforts for the week of August 23-29, 2022.

Right-handed starting pitcher Clayton Beeter of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A, New York Yankees) was the International League’s Pitcher of the Week, as he threw 5.0 scoreless innings on Saturday, April 13, and held the Norfolk Tides to 1 hit with no walks and 8 strikeouts.
