*CHATTANOOGA, TN *– The Chattanooga Lookouts (31-27) outlasted the Biloxi Shuckers (26-30) 7-6 on Tuesday evening at AT&T Field. It was the first time both teams had faced off against each other at AT&T Field since April of 2019.

Chattanooga jumped out to an early lead in the first, scoring four runs all with two outs off LHP Branon Knarr. After TJ Hopkins and Alex McGarry each collected consecutive RBI singles, Ivan Johnson capped off the scoring with a two-RBI triple. In the second inning, Biloxi loaded the bases with two outs after Thomas Dillard singled to center field and Cam Devanney and Brent Diaz walked. LHP Brandon Williamson induced an inning-ending groundout to strand three Shuckers on the basepaths.

The Shuckers finally broke through in the fourth inning off Williamson with a three-run frame. Diaz, Yeison Coca, and Sal Frelick collected consecutive singles to drive in all three runs. Frelick and Devanney each extended their on-base streaks to 14 games and Dillard pushed his to 15 games.

With their lead cut down to one, Chattanooga answered right back with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on a two-run home run by James Free, his fifth of the year, to pad their lead to 6-3.

Biloxi continued to cut into the three-run discrepancy in the top of the fifth. After Jakson Reetz reached on an error to the start the inning, Reetz reached third base on a single from Tristen Lutz and scored on a wild pitch. Devanney doubled home Lutz and Biloxi was back within one run, 6-5.

The Shuckers finally evened the score for the first time in the eighth inning. With Biloxi trailing 6-5 and two outs in the inning, Joey Wiemer laced a double off the left-field wall to tie the game at six off RHP Julio Pinto (W, 4-0).

In the bottom of the eighth inning, three of the first four batters reached to bring up Matt McLain with the bases loaded. With McLain at the plate, a passed ball snuck past Reetz to the backstop, and Francisco Urbaez raced home from third base to take the final lead change of the contest. Dillard singled with two outs in the top of the ninth, but RHP Ricky Karcher (S, 5) worked around the game-tying run at second base to close out the contest.

The Shuckers continue their six-game series with the Chattanooga Lookouts on Wednesday afternoon. Biloxi will send RHP Noah Zavolas (0-1, 7.48) to the mound opposite of LHP Connor Curlis (2-2, 5.27) for the Lookouts.
