Lorusso's Two-Homer Night, Amick's First Binghamton Homer Highlight Doubleheader Split

Game 1: Binghamton 10, Reading 5
Binghamton homered four times in one game for the third time this season and for the first time since May 19, against Richmond.
Reading left-hander Adam Seminaris led the Eastern League in ERA when he took the mound in the first inning, but allowed seven runs through three innings.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Rumble Ponies tallied three hits and four runs to take a 4-0 lead. Catcher Chris Suero broke the scoreboard with a sacrifice fly, as he scored shortstop Mitch Voit, who led off the game with a single.
Left fielder D’Andre Smith then belted a three-run home run that went 459 feet to dead-center field for his second big fly of the year and his first since May 19.
Binghamton right-hander Noah Hall made his Double-A debut, but shortstop Bryan Rincon got to him on the second pitch of the inning to make it 4-1 on his 18th blast of the year.
The Rumble Ponies bats added three runs in the second inning to take a 7-1 lead. Third baseman Nick Lorusso deposited a three-run home run, and it was part of his first multi-home run game since May 23, 2024, with High-A Brooklyn.
Reading got one back in the bottom half of the second inning as center fielder Wuilfredo Antunez delivered a sacrifice fly.
Hall did not allow a hit for 11 straight hitters until the fifth inning when Reading cut the deficit to 7-4. Right fielder Raylin Herdia slapped a one-out single to set up first baseman Alex Binelas, who smashed his Eastern League-leading 22nd home run. Hall finished 5.0 innings with four earned runs and six punchouts.
The Rumble Ponies came back with two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, where they would end up taking a 10-5 lead.
In the sixth, second baseman Wyatt Young roped a double off the right field wall for his third multi-hit over his last seven games. Then, with two outs, Lorusso deposited a two-run homer for his 19th blast of the year and his team-leading 55th RBI.
After Reading scored one in the bottom half of the sixth behind a solo home run off the bat of catcher Caleb Rickets, Binghamton answered the same way in the seventh inning as right fielder Matt Rudick tallied his fourth Double-A home run.
Right-handers Zach Peek and Brian Metoyer were the lone two pitchers used following Hall to seal the victory. Peek allowed one run as Metoyer threw a scoreless seventh inning.
The Rumble Ponies offense tallied double-digit hits (12) for the fourth time in the last six games.
Game 2: Reading 5, Binghamton 4
Reading right-hander Braydon Tucker retired 13 straight batters before a single from newcomer, third baseman Billy Amick, in the fifth inning. Tucker allowed just one hit over 5.0 scoreless innings with no walks and five strikeouts.
Left-hander Gabby Rodriguez got the start for Binghamton as their opener and allowed two runs in the frame. Third baseman Aroon Escobar tallied an RBI single with the bases loaded as left-fielder Wuilfredo Antunez delivered a sacrifice fly to push the score 2-0.
Against right-hander Danis Correa, Reading took a 5-0 lead in the third inning. Center fielder Pedro León delivered a lead-off home run, and then, after a Heredia double, Escobar belted a two-run home run. Correa went 1.1 innings and allowed three hits and three earned runs.
Right-hander Jordan Geber settled things down for Binghamton, as he tossed 2.2 scoreless frames in his first appearance since he was put on the development list on July 1.
Binghamton got on the board in the sixth inning to make it a 5-1 game. Left fielder Vincent Perozo led off the frame with a single and then reached second base on a wild pitch. With one out, center fielder John Bay chalked up his third Double-A double and RBI to score Perozo.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Binghamton put Wyatt Young on the mound for his ninth appearance, and Mitch Voit entered at shortstop. Young, for the ninth time this year, made an appearance on the mound and tossed his fifth scoreless frame.
Binghamton trailed by four runs in the seventh inning, and they did not go away against right-hander Jack Dallas. Voit singled to lead off the inning, and Amick followed with a two-run home run to make it 5-3. It was Amick’s 24th home run at the Double-A level this year and his first with Binghamton.
Catcher Kevin Parada then walked, which forced Reading to bring in right-hander Christian McGowan. He surrendered a single to Rudick and a walk to Young. With one out, Bay tallied a sacrifice fly, scoring Parada to cut the Reading lead to one. With runners on first and second, Lorusso came to the plate but grounded out to end the game.
Binghamton out-hit Reading in game two with six hits to their five as the Ponies tallied all six hits over the final three innings. It was Binghamton’s third one-run loss of the series.
