Louisville Extends Win Streak to Four Straight Games in 7-3 Win Over Charlotte

LOUISVILLE, KY- The Louisville Bats collected 13 hits in a 7-3 win over the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

After a quiet first frame, the Knights struck first in the second when a sac fly from Adam Haseley plated Yermin Mercedes to break the scoreless tie.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Bats would answer in a big way. After Cincinnati rehabber Max Schrock led off the inning with a solo home run, a pair of singles set up Louisville catcher, Mark Kolozsvary, for a three-run shot to straight-away centerfield, giving Louisville a 4-1 lead.

After entering the game as a defensive substitution, Juniel Querecuto got his first at-bat in the fourth and joined the party, blasting a solo shot to left-center that traveled 426 feet, pushing the Louisville lead to 5-1.

After two quick lineouts to start the fifth, Micker Adolfo, who had also just entered the game as a defensive sub, mirrored Querecuto, sending a solo shot into the Humana Cabana. The Knights would add one more run via a bases-loaded walk to cut the Louisville lead to 5-3.

The Bats went station-to-station on three straight singles to start the seventh, when Reds’ rehabber Jonathan India stepped to the plate with the bases juiced. He came through with an excellent eight-pitch at-bat culminating in another single, bringing home two more and pushing the Bats lead to four runs yet again, at 7-3.

The Louisville bullpen continued to shine, tossing a combined 4.1 innings to finish the game. Louisville relievers have now tossed 20.2 scoreless innings over their past five games.

Game two of the six-game set is scheduled for Wednesday with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. Robert Dugger (0-3, 4.94) will get the ball for Louisville and White Sox rehabber Lance Lynn (0-1, 3.86) will get the start for Charlotte.
