Luis Gonzalez Named SL Player of the Week
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Birmingham Barons outfielder Luis González has been named the Southern League Player of the Week for the week of July 29 - Aug. 4, league officials announced Monday morning.

Gonzalez led the league with a .905 slugging percentage and 1.425 OPS across the six-game span and also ranked among league leaders with a .429 batting average, three home runs, eight RBI and four runs scored. He is also in the midst of an active four-game hit streak.
On the season, Gonzalez paces the team in at-bats (384), triples (four) and is tied for the team lead in games played (103). He ranks second in runs, hits, home runs, RBI and stolen bases.
Gonzalez, 23, was a third-round draft selection by the White Sox in the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of New Mexico. He is the No. 13 prospect in the White Sox organization, according to MLB Pipeline.
This is the first Player of the Week honor for the Barons this season. Gonzalez is the first Barons player to earn the distinction since Eloy Jiménez during the week of April 30 - May 6, 2018.
Birmingham will wrap up its series with Pensacola on Monday night as left-hander
The Barons will return home to Regions Field on Aug. 7 for a five-game series with the Montgomery Biscuits. Game 1 is slated to begin at 7:05 p.m. CT.
