JACKSONVILLE, FL - Held scoreless entering the ninth inning and down to the final out, Luke Adams played hero for Nashville with a go-ahead two-run home run to stun the Jumbo Shrimp on Saturday night. Garrett Stallings worked five scoreless on the mound for Nashville while Akil Baddoo kept Nashville's hopes alive with his single to send Adams to the plate in the ninth in the 2-1 win.

Stallings and Marlins no. 9-rated prospect Karson Milbrandt were locked into a pitcher's duel in Milbrandt's Triple-A debut. Stallings stranded a runner in each of the first three innings, including a two-out triple in the bottom of the first while Milbrandt didn't allow a hit through his first three innings. Jett Williams finally earned a hit off the right-hander with a leadoff single in the top of the fourth but was quickly erased with a double play. Action picked up in the fifth with Baddoo adding the second Nashville hit of the night with a leadoff single but was stranded along with Ramon Rodriguez after a two-out walk. Stallings surrendered back-to-back two-out singles in the bottom of the fifth before issuing his lone walk of the night to load the bases. He responded with his fifth strikeout of the game to strand the bases loaded and keep the game scoreless through five. Milbrandt led off the top of the sixth with his third walk of the game but was backed by the third double play hit into by the Sounds to end the inning and get him through six scoreless innings in his Triple-A debut.

The bullpens took over with Jared Koenig working his third straight scoreless appearance in his rehab assignment despite allowing two-out double and walk in the bottom of the sixth. Gerson Garabito made his Sounds debut after being reinstated from the 60-day injured list prior to Saturday's game. Jared Serna worked his way away around the bases after a leadoff single in the bottom of the seventh with a stolen base before consecutive ground outs plated the first run of the night to give Jacksonville a 1-0 lead. Garabito stranded a one-out walk in the bottom of the eighth to set the stage for the top of the ninth.

Cooper Pratt struck out to lead off the inning in his final chance to extend his on-base streak, and Luis Matos saw his streak also come to an end after grounding out. Baddoo added his second hit of the night with a two-out single to keep Nashville's hopes alive and send Adams to the plate. The Brewers no. 11-rated prospect worked a 3-0 count before watching a middle-middle fastball from Josh White. A second straight fastball found Adams' barrel and left the park at 102 MPH for his second home in his last three games and more importantly gave the Sounds a 2-1 lead.

Garabito was back out to start the bottom of the ninth and surrendered a leadoff single as the Jumbo Shrimp got the tying run aboard. He ended his outing with his second strikeout before turning the ball over to Junior Fernandez. Johnny Olmstead promptly stole second base with the errant throw from Rodriguez making its way to center field allowing Olmstead to get to third with just one out. Fernandez induced an infield pop out for Deyvison De Los Santos before getting Jacob Berry to ground out to second base and securing his second save of the year and giving Garabito the win in his Sounds debut.

The Sounds will look to secure a series split in the finale on Sunday afternoon. First pitch from VyStar Ballpark is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. CT.

POSTGAME NOTES:

LUKE NUKE: Brewers no. 11-rated prospect Luke Adams clubbed his fourth Triple-A home run of the season and second in his last three games after coming off the injured list that sidelined him for 42 games with the Sounds. It was the fourth career home run for Adams in the ninth inning and first since June 15, 2024, when he was with High-A Wisconsin and hit a grand slam to put the Timber Rattlers up 7-2 on West Michigan. It was his second career go-ahead home run in the ninth inning with his first coming via a walk-off three-run home run to help Low-A Carolina beat Delmarva 6-3. Since beginning a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on May 26th, Adams is hitting .296 (8-for-27) with five home runs, a double, and eight RBI over his last eight games.

STALL BALL: Garrett Stallings pitched five scoreless innings with five strikeouts and five hits allowed to lower his ERA to 3.40 (18 ER/47.2 IP) through 13 appearances (9 GS) this season. It was his fifth scoreless start of the year and third of at least 5.0 IP with his last coming on May 16 when he worked a 6.2 IP quality start against the Iowa Cubs. It was just the fifth scoreless start of at least 5.0 IP in his Triple-A career (45 GS).

DON'T CRY BECAUSE IT'S OVER: Cooper Pratt and Luis Matos saw their long on-base streaks come to an end on Saturday night. Pratt went 0-for-4 with a strikeout to bring an end to his 25-game on-base streak which ends as the second-longest on-base streak in the Brewers farm system this season behind Brock Wilken's 30-game streak. Matos also went 0-for-4 and failed to reach base for the first time in his 19-game tenure with the Sounds.

HOW THE TURNTABLES: After suffering just the second loss of the season when entering the eighth inning with a lead on Friday night, the Sounds flipped the script on the Jumbo Shrimp Saturday night. The Sounds earned just their third win of the year when trailing after the eighth inning and now sit at 3-20 on the year when trailing entering the ninth inning. The first two late inning wins for Nashville came in back-to-back games on May 17 vs. Iowa in the series finale when the Sounds scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to walk off Iowa 4-3. Nashville then used five runs in the top of the ninth on May 19 in Durham to pick up a 6-5 win over the Bulls.
