LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), in partnership with the Las Vegas 51s, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets in the Pacific Coast League, today unveiled the "Cashman Field: A Season to Remember" logo to honor the teams 36th and final season at Cashman Field.

"We have enjoyed a great partnership with the 51s at Cashman Field for 36 years. Fans have had great experiences over the years and it's exciting to celebrate all the memories in this final baseball season at Cashman," said Rossi Ralenkotter, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. "We look forward to honoring some of the long-time fans, players, sponsors and more. As we close one era for professional baseball here, we are excited for our future partnership at the new Las Vegas Ballpark."

The 51s are the longest tenured professional sports franchise in the state of Nevada, and Cashman Field has been the home of Triple-A baseball for more than three decades. The team moved to Las Vegas in 1983 as the Las Vegas Stars, transitioning to the 51s in 2001. The team will move into the Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin for the 2019 season.
Throughout the summer, the "Cashman Field: A Season to Remember" campaign will recognize long standing season ticket holders, sponsors, and employees from both the 51s and the LVCVA. The team and the LVCVA will also honor the community leaders responsible for bringing the team to Las Vegas as well as former players from the four Major League affiliates that have comprised the 36-year team history: San Diego Padres (1983-2000); Los Angeles Dodgers (2001-08); Toronto Blue Jays (2009-12); New York Mets (2013-18). The LVCVA is also promoting Tourism Tuesday for every Tuesday home game, giving fans opportunities to win tickets to other major sporting events.
In 2017, 75 former Stars/51s players appeared on Major League Baseball rosters. In addition, 31 former managers, coaches and players were members on MLB coaching staffs. San Francisco Giants' manager Bruce Bochy has the distinction of hitting the first home run in Cashman Field history, as a member of the Stars on April 10, 1983 vs. Salt Lake City.
Cashman Field has also been home to Major League Baseball's Big League Weekend for 25 years, providing Las Vegans the chance to see big league teams compete during Spring Training. The facility has also played host to regular season games for the Oakland Athletics as well as home run derby competitions over the years.

"It is very important for our franchise to acknowledge the fact that Cashman Field has been our home for over three decades," 51s President/COO Don Logan said. "The 2018 season will serve as a celebration to honor our loyal longest standing season ticket holders, sponsors and former players and dignitaries."

With the new Las Vegas Ballpark on the horizon, a new Major League Baseball affiliate and a new team name to complete the transition in 2019, the 51s have been busy planning for their future home in Downtown Summerlin.
The LVCVA will continue their partnership with the 51s and the new Las Vegas Ballpark through a marketing partnership that will provide marketing, branding, and other opportunities to promote Las Vegas, Laughlin, Mesquite and other Clark County destinations. The partnership also provides the opportunity to continue the Big League Weekend games, with the possibility to add another weekend, and attract other event like college baseball games and amateur tournaments.

The 51s will return to Cashman Field beginning on Tuesday, May 8 with an eight-game homestand against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the 2017 World Series champion Houston Astros, and the Albuquerque Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, from May 8-15.
