BILOXI, MS -- After taking the first three games in the series, the Mississippi Braves (21-19) ran out of gas at MGM Park in a 4-1 loss to the Biloxi Shuckers (21-19) in the final game of a five game series. Despite dropping the last two games, the M-Braves won the series three games to one.
It was a dominant outing from Biloxi starter Aaron Wilkerson that kept the M-Braves guessing at the plate. The right hander threw 6.2 hitless innings before giving up a solo home run to Carlos Franco for the only hit and run the starter allowed. Wilkerson walked Ronald Acuña Jr. in the first inning before retiring 19 straight Braves batters.
In relief, the Shuckers used Taylor Scott for a hitless eighth and closer Matt Ramsey in the ninth. Ramsey got his league-leading 11th save, but did give up a single to Luis Valenzuela for only the second hit of the game.

The M-Braves sent left-hander Max Fried (2-5) to the mound in his eighth start of the season. He had previously been unbeaten in three road starts before taking the loss tonight. Fried went 6.2 innings and gave up four runs, three earned, on seven hits. The lefty walked two batters and hit two while striking out five.
It was the third inning that spelled doom for Fried, as he gave up four straight hits, two singles and two doubles, that plated three runs for the Shuckers. The fourth and final run came across in the seventh when the first four batters reached safely on two hits, a hit batter and an error.
Wes Parsons got the final out of the inning and completed the eighth without allowing a hit in his second appearance of the series. Defensively the M-Braves struggled early, committing four errors that allowed three runs.
Mississippi heads to Jacksonville to take on the Jumbo Shrimp in a five-game series starting Thursday.
