PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves defeated the Jackson Generals by a final score of 6-3 on Friday night at Trustmark Park.
Mississippi got off to a fast start by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning. Tyler Neslony started the scoring for the M-Braves when he ripped a ground ball to center field allowing Michael Reed to score.

Travis Demeritte would then follow with a double, on a sharp fly ball to right field. Alay Lago and Neslony both scored on the double by Demeritte, extending the M-Braves lead 3-0.
Jackson responded in the top of the second inning after Jay Gonzalez produced a RBI single, making the score 3-1.
Mississippi added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning courtesy of line drive RBI triple off the bat of Neslony. Neslony's bases clearing triple allowed Reed and Lago to score, making the score 5-1 in favor of the M-Braves.
Jackson's high potent offense would not go quietly. In the top of the seventh inning, the Generals plated two runs on a Kevin Medrano line drive double to left field, narrowing the deficit to two.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, M-Braves first baseman, Jonathan Morales added an insurance run to the M-Braves total after smacking a line drive double down the left field line. Demeritte showed his speed as he was able to easily score from first base on the play to make the score 6-3.
Mississippi would go on to win the game 6-3. RHP Kelvin Vasquez (1-0, 5.06) earned the win for Mississippi while RHP Justin Donatella (1-1, 2.63) suffered the loss for Jackson. Mississippi relief pitcher, Corbin Clouse was credited with his second hold of the season. Jacob Webb earned the save for Mississippi, his fourth of the 2018 season.
The M-Braves and the Generals will face each other for the third consecutive night at Trustmark Park at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday night. RHP Touki Toussaint (0-1, 5.71) is scheduled to start Saturday night's contest for Mississippi. Toussaint's counterpart on the mound will be LHP Alex Young (3-0, 3.43). Saturday night's game will feature Trustmark Super Sensational Saturday and Replica Jersey Giveaway (First 1,500 Fans) sponsored by the Mississippi Forestry Commission & Trustmark.
