PEARL, MS -- The Mississippi Braves (12-22, 46-58) picked up a crucial 4-0 win over the South Division leading Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (18-17, 48-57) in the series finale at Trustmark Park Saturday night.
Kolby Allard recorded his sixth win of the year behind five-plus strong innings, allowing five hits and striking out four. The young lefty got ahead in the count early and kept the Jumbo Shrimp hitters off balance all night. In relief, Danny Reynolds completed the shutout with 3.1 innings of one-hit baseball.
The M-Braves offense was up to the task as well, jumping on Jacksonville starter Chris Mazza early. In the second inning, the first five Mississippi hitters reached base, as the M-Braves scored three runs on three hits in the inning. Mississippi added another run in the third on three hits, and that was all the home team would need.

Joe Odom led the way at the plate with a 3-for-4 night, giving him five hits in the final two games of the series. Sal Giardina picked up two RBI on one hit as the M-Braves got great production from the bottom half of the lineup.
