CLEARWATER, Fla. — Game 1 of the Marauders’ Friday doubleheader against the Clearwater Threshers has been suspended in the top of the first inning due to inclement weather.

The game will resume Saturday, September 10, at 4 p.m. with the Marauders leading, 5-0, with the bases loaded and two out in the top of the first inning. The two teams will follow with a second game, seven innings in regulation.

At the time of suspension, the Marauders had sent 10 batters to the plate in a five-run first inning. After a leadoff single by Tsung-Che Cheng and a Termarr Johnson walk, Jack Brannigan drove Cheng home with an RBI-single to left-center. Tres Gonzalez followed with a two-run double, and after Rodolfo Nolasco hit an RBI-double to right field for a 4-0 lead, Wyatt Hendrie was hit by a pitch and Threshers starter Starlyn Castillo was pulled from the game.

As rain began to fall, reliever Cam Wynne entered the game and promptly surrendered an RBI-double to Sergio Campana before retiring the next two batters. Cheng then drew a walk to load the bases with two out, and as Johnson prepared for his second plate appearance of the inning, the umpires waved players off the field amid an increasingly heavy rain shower.
