The Biloxi Shuckers return home to MGM Park for an action-packed, six-game homestand from Thursday, June 28 through Tuesday, July 3. The Shuckers take on their coastal rival, the Mobile BayBears, in a series that features Margaritaville Night and a patriotic Fireworks Extravaganza. Biloxi enters Thursday night's contest tied with the Pensacola Blue Wahoos for first place six games into the second half of the Southern League season.
Thursday, June 28 at 6:35 PM: Double Play Thursday presented by Polk's Meat Products, Yuengling, Coca-Cola & Kicker 108
The Shuckers kick things off this homestand with another Double Play Thursday presented by Polk's Meat Products, Yuengling, Coca-Cola & Kicker 108. Come enjoy $2 Hot Dogs, $2 Yuengling Drafts, $2 Fountain Drinks and other $3 weekly draft specials! Fans can grab the 'Double Play,' which includes a Reserved Level ticket paired with two drink vouchers for just $10, and arrive early for a special pregame concert featuring Hadley Hill. The Shuckers will also recognize the MGCCC Men's Golf National Championship Team before the game. Gates open at 5:30 PM for a 6:35 PM first pitch.
LHP Wade Wiley is set to make his second rehab start with the Shuckers. The lefty tossed two innings on Friday night, recording three strikeouts in Chattanooga. In four starts with the Shuckers this season, Miley has allowed five earned runs in 13.2 innings (3.29 ERA). The eight-year Major League veteran is rehabbing an oblique injury he suffered in a start with Milwaukee as he looks to return to the big league club.
Friday, June 29 at 6:35 PM: Fireworks Friday
The weekend begins with Friday fun at MGM Park as the Biloxi Shuckers take on the Mobile BayBears. Friday's game will conclude with a spectacular postgame fireworks show to light up the Biloxi sky. Gates open at 5:30 PM for a 6:35 PM first pitch.
The beginning of the second half marked several roster changes for Biloxi. Luis Aviles Jr. Jr. and Max McDowell highlight a new crop of talent that showed up in Chattanooga and contributed immediately. Aviles Jr. recorded a hit in his first four games, including three doubles. His seventh-inning two-run double on Saturday night handed the Shuckers a 3-1 lead they would not relinquish. McDowell has five knocks in three starts behind the plate. The two linked up with a pair of doubles to provide the winning run in the seventh inning of Sunday's game. McDowell also homered in the win.
Saturday, June 30 at 6:35 PM: Margaritaville Night and an Appearance by The Fur Circus
Calling all Parrot Heads! Saturday, June 30 is another Super Saturday full of #FinsUp fun as the Shuckers host Margaritaville Night featuring $5 margaritas paired with $5 cheeseburgers in paradise. Plus, the first 500 fans though the gates will receive leis. Arrive early because Matt Hoggatt from SiriusXM Radio Margaritaville with Johnny Mire will perform a pregame concert. The Fur Circus is also coming to town, so Buddy, Myles and the rest of the gang will be at the park throughout the game to entertain fans. Gates open at 5:30 PM FUR a 6:35 PM FURst pitch.
Since joining the Shuckers on the first day of June, Keston Hiura has been a hit machine. The Brewers' top prospect has recorded a knock in 19 of his 20 starts with Biloxi, including nine multi-hit efforts. The 2017 ninth overall draft selection belted his second home run in a Shuckers uniform on Monday night in Chattanooga.
Sunday, July 1 at 4:05 PM: Military Salute Sunday presented by Keesler Federal Credit Union and Cover Your Bases Sun Safety Initiative
It's Military Salute Sunday presented by Keesler Federal Credit Union, and discounted tickets are provided for all active and retired military personnel with a valid ID. Shuckers players will sport their special military-themed jerseys, and family 4-packs are available every Sunday, which include four Reserved Level tickets and four Schooner's Special vouchers, which are redeemable for a hot dog, chips and a drink, all for just $60. Select Shuckers players will be on the concourse signing autographs before the game. Also, don't forget to bring your glove as Shuckers fans are invited to stick around to play catch on the field after the game.
The Shuckers have also teamed up with Minor League Baseball and the American Cancer Society to bring Shuckers fans #CoverYourBases, a sun safety awareness campaign. The first 1,000 fans through the gates on Sunday will receive samples of Blue Lizard Australian Sunscreen. Gates open at 3:00 PM for a 4:05 PM first pitch.
Another new member of the Shuckers who made a quality contribution in Chattanooga was RHP Marcos Diplan. After being promoted from Advanced-A Carolina, Diplan made his first Double-A start on Monday and did not allow an earned run over five innings. The Brewers acquired the 21-year-old Dominican in 2015, along with Milwaukee closer Corey Knebel, in a trade with Texas. He takes the mound on Sunday afternoon in his first start at MGM Park.
Monday, July 2 at 6:35 PM: Doggone Monday presented by Raising Cane's
Looking for a doggone good time? Bring your pooch to the ballpark with you on Monday, July 2 for Doggone Monday presented by Raising Cane's locations of South Mississippi. Purchase a $7 Berm ticket and you and your furry friend can cheer on the Shuckers. Arrive early and have your pup participate in the pregame pooch parade on the field. Gates open at 5:30 PM for a 6:35 PM first pitch.
RHP Zack Brown will make his first start at home since coming one strike from a no-hitter on the night the Shuckers clinched the first half championship. He currently leads the Southern League with 92 innings pitched and a 1.03 WHIP this season. Opponents are hitting a microscopic .211 against Brown, the second lowest mark in the league for a starting pitcher. In his 15 starts in 2018, the Shuckers are 14-1.
Tuesday, July 3 at 6:35 PM: Independence Day Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Merit Health Biloxi
The homestand concludes with the Shuckers annual patriotic Fireworks Extravaganza presented by Merit Health Biloxi. Sport your red, white and blue to cheer on the Shuckers, and enjoy an unforgettable night at MGM Park. Gates open at 5:30 PM for a 6:35 PM first pitch. Tickets are still available but are going fast for Biloxi's premier fireworks celebration.
Special for July 3, the Shuckers are offering an 'Independence Day Celebration Special.' Fans can purchase individual tickets to the Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport Flight Deck for $41, which includes a ticket to the game, a Shuckers hat and access to a full buffet which includes barbeque, nachos, chips, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and more! Tickets can be purchased at the Shuckers Box Office or through a Ticketmaster outlet. Limited seating is available and seats will be assigned on the deck.
Lucas Erceg put together a quality series in Chattanooga. In six games, the Brewers' #3 prospect collected eight hits, including his sixth home run of the season. Along with some stellar defensive work, the third baseman drove in six runs and scored three himself.
