Albuquerque, NM – Playing as the Mariachis de Nuevo México for the first time this season, the Albuquerque Isotopes (5-6) left no doubt, plating a barrage of runs early for the fifth consecutive game in a 10-3 triumph over the Tacoma Rainiers (3-8) in front of a season high 8,330 fans at “The Plaza” Saturday night. Albuquerque has won four games in a row.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the first inning, Sean Bouchard whacked a pitch over the left-center field wall for Albuquerque’s third grand slam of the series and a quick 4-0 lead.
The balls kept flying in the third as Colton Welker and Scott Schebler went deep to left on back-to-back pitches, making it 6-2 in favor of the hosts.
Bret Boswell led off the fourth with a double, his first of three hits on the night. Boswell immediately scored on a single from Jonathan Morales, before Tim Lopes chased home Morales with a two-bagger to left.
Starting pitcher Ryan Feltner (1-0) earned his first Triple-A win with 5.1 innings of five-hit, three-run ball with three walks and five strikeouts. The bullpen quartet of Nate Griep, Ben Bowden, Zach Lee and Logan Cozart combined to record the last 11 outs with just two hits allowed.
