Mariachis de Nuevo México Win First Road Game in El Paso

The Isotopes (41-39) played their first road game as the Mariachis de Nuevo México on Friday, defeating the Chihuahuas de El Paso (42-39), 10-3, in a Copa Cup game from Southwest University Park. Albuquerque is 3-0 this season when wearing its Mariachis uniforms.

The Mariachis and Chihuahuas were tied 2-2 before Albuquerque sent 11 batters to the plate in the fourth inning, scoring six runs to take the lead for good. Jordan Patterson and Josh Fuentes both recorded two-run singles in the frame.
Fuentes ended the night with four RBI and belted his ninth home run of the season in the ninth inning. Anthony Bemboom also homered in the contest, hitting his fourth round-tripper in the second inning.
Nelson Gonzalez pitched 2.2 innings of relief to earn his third win. Starting pitcher Jeff Hoffman threw 2.1 no-hit innings while allowing one run and three walks. The start was Hoffman's first since rejoining the Isotopes from the Rockies.
The Isotopes and Chihuahuas are back in action Saturday from Southwest University Park. The game is scheduled to get underway at 7:05 p.m.
