Left-handed pitcher Dax Fulton, Miami's #9 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, was promoted from High-A Beloit to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos on Thursday.
Fulton, selected by the Marlins in the second round of the 2020 Draft out of Mustang (OK) High School, made his professional debut with Single A Jupiter in 2021 before a promotion to Beloit late last year. This season with the Sky Carp, Fulton was 5-6 with a 4.07 ERA in 20 starts, striking out 120 batters in 97.1 innings.
The 20-year-old took a step forward in his final month in the Midwest League, going 3-0 with a 1.72 ERA in six starts since July 15. He takes the rotation spot in Pensacola previously held by Zach McCambley, who was placed on the injured list retroactive to Wednesday.
The Blue Wahoos continue their series against Montgomery with a doubleheader on Thursday. First pitch of game one from Blue Wahoos Stadium is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. CT, with a live broadcast beginning at 4:00 on ESPN Pensacola 1330 AM/99.1 FM and WYCT 98.7-HD4 (radio), MiLB.tv (streaming) and YurView (cable).
