Matos Wins SAL Player of the Week

BlueClaws outfielder Malvin Matos was named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for the week ending July 28th, it was announced on Monday by the league office. 
Matos, a 22 year old from Caja Seca, Venezuela, played five games last week and had two hits in all five. He went 10-17 with two RBIs, five runs scored, four walks, and two stolen bases. Additionally, he won Wednesday's game over Charleston with a walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to cap a BlueClaws come-from-behind win. 
Since July 16th, Matos is 15-31 with five walks. 
BlueClaws pitcher Victor Santos was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week in June but Matos is the first BlueClaws to win Player of the Week this season. 
Last year, Rodolfo Duran (twice) and Jhailyn Ortiz won SAL Player of the Week awards.
