FRISCO, Texas (June 9, 2022) - The Texas Rangers announced on Wednesday that three RoughRiders players won May honors for the Rangers Minor League system. Ezequiel Duran captured Player of the Month honors while Grant Anderson was named the Relief Pitcher of the Month and Josh Stowers the Defender of the Month.
Duran, who made his Major League Baseball debut on June 4th with the Rangers and collected his first MLB hit and home run on June 5th, had an incredible May in Frisco before receiving the call-up. Over his 24 May games, Duran hit .371/.406/.711/1.117 with 13 doubles, six home runs, 20 runs, 23 RBIs and three steals. His .371 average was third in the Texas League and sixth in Double-A, while he was second in the Texas League in OPS (1.117), first in doubles (13), first in extra-base hits (20) and second in slugging percentage (.711). Duran is the No. 4 prospect in the Rangers system and became the first RoughRiders player this season to make the jump from Frisco to Texas. He was the 179th player in franchise history to make his MLB debut after coming through Frisco.
Anderson, who was a member of the 2021 RoughRiders, was lights out on the mound in May. The righty went 2-0 with a 3.07 ERA in the month, allowing just five runs over his 14.2 innings while striking out 20 to four walks in his nine outings. Through his first seven outings of the month, he allowed just one run over 12.0 innings (0.75 ERA) with 15 strikeouts. On the season, Anderson is 3-0 with a 2.96 ERA over 17 outings. The former trade chip from the Seattle Mariners organization has greatly improved upon his 6.91 ERA in 20 games from last year with the Riders to become a staple in the Frisco bullpen.
Stowers, who is also a returner from last season with the RoughRiders, has dazzled defensively in the outfield in his two years in Frisco. The proof is in the amazing plays that he makes, like this play against the wall in Frisco or the two he made in Tulsa (this leaping catch and this diving catch). Stowers made one of the plays of the year last year with a diving catch in right-center field as well.
The other awards are as follows:
Ezequiel Duran, Frisco RoughRiders, Player of the Month
Larson Kindreich, Down East Wood Ducks, Pitcher of the Month
Grant Anderson, Frisco RoughRiders, Relief Pitcher of the Month
Josh Stowers, Frisco RoughRiders, Defender of the Month

About the RoughRiders
The Frisco RoughRiders are the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. The team was founded in 2003 and has finished first among all Double-A franchises in attendance for 15 consecutive seasons (2005-2019). In August 2014, the RoughRiders were purchased by an ownership group led by Chuck Greenberg. Since then, the new ownership group, together with the City of Frisco, has spearheaded numerous major franchise enhancements, investing over $8 million in a wide array of facility upgrades and improvements, including a state-of-the-art HD video board, sound system, Bull Moose Saloon, InTouch Grille, Riders Outpost Team Store and the world's largest water feature in a sports facility, the massive Lazy River. These enhancements earned the Riders and the City of Frisco Ballpark Digest's prestigious "Best Ballpark Renovation" award for two consecutive years (2015 and 2016). More than 170 former RoughRiders players have gone on to play Major League Baseball. For more information on the Frisco RoughRiders, please visit RidersBaseball.com or contact [email protected].
