The Somerset Patriots surged to a 7-4 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ on Wednesday afternoon.

The win moved Somerset to 4.5 games back of first-place Reading in the Northeast Division with 28 games remaining. Somerset earned its seventh consecutive win over New Hampshire, advancing to 12-8 against the Fisher Cats this season, including a 5-3 record at TD Bank Ballpark. Dating back to 2025, Somerset is 34-10 against New Hampshire.

Trailing 3-0 after the third inning, Somerset scored runs in each of the fourth through seventh innings, including four runs in the sixth inning.

Somerset’s four-run sixth inning was highlighted by a grand slam from Connor McGinnis, marking Somerset’s eighth grand slam this season. Somerset’s eight grand slams lead the Eastern League, rank second in Double-A and are one shy of Somerset’s franchise record nine grand slams in 2023.

The Patriots smoked multiple homers for the second straight game and fourth time in the last six contests. The Patriots have tallied 47 multi-home run games (32-15) this season, surpassing Somerset’s multiple homers in 35 games in 2025.

With home runs in five of their last six games, the Patriots’ 158 homers this season lead Double-A and rank seventh in MiLB at the time of the game’s conclusion.

Combining for 7.2 innings with two earned runs allowed in relief of Trent Sellers, Somerset’s bullpen has allowed two or fewer runs in six of its last seven games.

RHP Trent Sellers (1.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB) made his 11th start of the season and second since becoming a full-time reliever in mid-June. Across his last 11 appearances, Sellers has posted a 2.30 ERA and .203 BAA with 19 K in 15.2 IP.

3B Roderick Arias (1-for-3, HR, RBI, BB, 2 R) smashed his first Double-A home run off Blue Jays No. 16 prospect Daniel Guerra in the seventh inning. Arias’ homer marked his 13th across all levels this season, tying a career-high from 2024. Arias is the 12th different Patriot to tie or surpass their career-high in homers. Arias has hit safely in all eight games to start his stint with Somerset. Dating back to his time in Hudson Valley, Arias has hit safely in a season-high 12 straight games. In that span, he’s slashing .383/.431/.596 with 7 XBH, 7 RBI and five multi-hit games.

DH DJ Gladney (1-for-4, R) extended his on-base streak to 14 games and hit streak to five games with a single in the sixth inning. With hits in 13 games during his 14-game on-base streak, Gladney is slashing .356/.387/.729 with 6 HR, 10 XBH and 20 RBI.

2B Connor McGinnis (1-for-4, HR, 4 RBI, R) crushed his team-leading second grand slam of the season in the sixth inning. McGinnis’ two grand slams are tied for the Double-A lead. Since his first grand slam of the season and first Double-A home run on June 16, McGinnis is slashing .256/.326/.464 with 8 HR, 30 RBI and 18 XBH in 46 games. His eight homers in that span are tied for second on the team.
