MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds dropped the series finale of a six-game series against the Indianapolis Indians on Sunday afternoon at Victory Field by a final score of 6-2.

Designated hitter Alec Burleson continued to produce at his league-leading pace, starting things off early with a two-run homer in the top of the first inning to bring home left fielder Scott Hurst. Burleson recorded his fourth consecutive multi-hit game, going 3-for-4 and the lone two Memphis RBIs.

Hurst also remained hot, registering his third straight three-hit game. The left-handed hitter slapped three hits and scored a run. On the series, Hurst went 10-for-21 with his first home run of the season and scored four times. By hitting safely on Sunday afternoon, Hurst extended his hitting streak to a season-high tying four games. Right fielder Conner Capel’s 28-game on base came to an end on Sunday, going 0-for-4.

Starting pitcher Connor Thomas tossed two innings in his first start in two weeks. The left-handed pitcher threw 50 pitches, allowed one run and struck out two Indianapolis hitters. Right-handed pitcher Angel Rondon tossed four innings and registered four strikeouts.

The Memphis Redbirds (41-31) will return home to AutoZone Park to host the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in a six-game series that gets underway on Tuesday, June 28 with first pitch schedule for 7:05 p.m. CDT.
