Syracuse (29-30) came closest to scoring in the bottom of the eighth. Grégor Blanco led off the frame with a double for the Mets and moved to third on a wild pitch but was stranded there.
Syracuse now starts a road series with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Friday night. The Mets will play four games in three days against the North Division-leading RailRiders, including a double-header Sunday. First pitch on Friday is at 6:35 p.m.
