PEARL, MS - The Milwaukee Brewers announced the following roster moves prior to today's series opener against the Mississippi Braves. OF Michael Reed  has been placed on the 7-day DL and INF Wendell Rijo  has been transferred to the Biloxi roster from Rookie Helena.

PEARL, MS The Milwaukee Brewers announced the following roster moves prior to today's series opener against the Mississippi Braves. OF Michael Reed  has been placed on the 7-day DL and INF Wendell Rijo  has been transferred to the Biloxi roster from Rookie Helena.

Reed, 24, left last night's game in third inning with an ankle injury. Reed was batting .215 with three doubles, seven home runs and 16 RBI in 50 games this season. Reed was leading the club home runs and on-base percentage. (.352). Reed ranked third in the Southern League, drawing 34 walks so far this season.
The Cedar Park, TX native was drafted by the Brewers in the fifth round of the 2011 draft and made his major league debut with the Brewers in 2015. Reed is ranked as the No. 28 prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers farm system by MLB Pipeline and has a .258/.371/.377 career slash line over eight professional seasons with the Brewers.
Rijo, 21, has appeared in five games for the Shuckers batting .143 with a run scored. Rijo appeared in 15 games for the Carolina Mudcats earlier this season, batting .238 (10x42) with five doubles, four RBI, and three stolen bases. Rijo was acquired from Boston, along with Aaron Wilkerson, in exchange for Aaron Hill on July 7, 2015. The La Romana, DR native began the 2016 season with Double-A Portland and transferred to Class-A Salem on June 20. Over 50 games with Brevard County after the trade Rijo batted .202 with one home run, 15 RBI, and six stolen bases. The Red Sox originally signed the 21-year-old as a minor league free agent on July 6, 2012.

The Shuckers, one game behind the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in the South Division with 15 games left in the first half, start a five-game series at Mississippi today. Jorge López gets the ball for Biloxi for the 5:00 pm start against Braves rehabbing right-hander Kris Medlen. The Shuckers will return to MGM Park on Friday, June 9 for a five-game homestand with the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
