TRENTON, NJ - Alberto Mineo's second inning grand slam spurred the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) to a 4-1 win over the Trenton Thunder (Yankees) Wednesday at ARM & HAMMER Park to finish a six-game, seven-day road trip.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the second, Mineo dug in against #4 Yankees prospect Deivi Garcia. The Italian-born catcher launched a 0-1 pitch into the Delaware River beyond the right field wall for his first career Double-A home run and the second grand slam for a Fisher Cat this season.
That was all the run support starter Yennsy Diaz (W, 2-2) would need. The 22-year-old worked five innings, scattered six hits, allowed one run in the fifth, walked one and struck out five.
A trio of relievers - Jake Fishman (H, 1), Bryan Baker (H, 1) and Kirby Snead (S, 5) - combined on four shutout innings and allowed just three base runners in that span to secure the victory.
Notable Performers:

  • Mineo finished the day with two hits, his teambest ninth multi-knock performance of the season.
  • Baker has not allowed a run in nine innings pitched this season.
  • Forrest Wall's 10game hitting streak came to an end but he has now reached base in 11 consecutive games.

New Hampshire returns home to face the Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies) Thursday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. RHP Andrew Sopko will go for the 'Cats while the 'Goats send southpaw Jack Wynkoop to the mound. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. and continues with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network.
