International League umpire Scott Costello keeps his eye on the action while wearing a GoPro camera on his cap on May 9 in Buffalo. Costello, who is one of seven Canadian umpires in pro baseball, said he once dreamed of working games in Buffalo. "Whenever I passed that stadium, I remember saying to my wife hopefully I'll end up umpiring there," the Barrie, Ontario native told The Barrie Examiner on May 2. "It's the top level of the Minor Leagues and it's one of the last steps before getting to the Major Leagues, so I'm very excited for the opportunity to go there."
Albert Morosi, a U.S. Navy veteran who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor, was honored by the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats on Military Apprecation Night on May 6. Morosi, an avid Angels fan, manned a gun turret alongside his brother Geno on the USS Maryland, a Colorado-class battleship, when Oah'u was attacked during World War II on Dec. 7, 1941.
