Billings, MT. The Missoula PaddleHeads jumped out to an early advantage thanks to a four-run rally in the second inning in the series finale at Dehler Park on Friday night opposite the Billings Mustangs. Missoula would lead by as many as six before the Mustangs trimmed the lead to two with a rally of their own. That is when Billings would run into the bullpen of the PaddleHeads. In four innings of work the pen would not budge as Missoula would win their nineth consecutive game by a final score of 8-5.

Three straight doubles in the second inning from Nick Gatewood, Jared Akins, and Aaron Bond highlighted a four-run rally for the PaddleHeads as Missoula jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Brandon Riley would get in on the act in the third inning launching a home run over the right center field wall to extend his hitting streak to six games giving Missoula a five-run advantage. Despite a push from the Mustangs in the fourth inning, that would prove to be all Missoula would need with the bullpen holding the line.

Kida De La Cruz, Jackson Signman, and Dezon Cole were outstanding in four combined innings of work. The trio would allow only one hit over those innings. In 11 innings pitched over the three-game series, Missoula’s bullpen would only allow one run.

Action between the PaddleHeads (16-2) and Mustangs (7-11) will now shift to Missoula with a three-game series between the two set to start on Saturday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Catch the action on SWX Montana and ESPN Missoula 102.9 F.M.
