(AKRON, OHIO) February 18, 2021 – Major League Baseball has released the official schedule for all 120 teams in the Professional Development League, with start times to be announced at a later date. The RubberDucks’ 2021 campaign, powered by FirstEnergy, kicks off at Canal Park on May 4 against the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

“Despite all the snow we’ve seen this week, we are already thinking ahead to baseball and warmer weather after receiving our schedule for this upcoming season,” said Akron RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander. “We’re so excited for RubberDucks baseball to return to Akron, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safest possible environment for our fans and community this summer at Canal Park.”

The Akron RubberDucks have been placed in the Double-A Northeast League, which will play a 120-game season with each team at home for 60 games and on the road for 60 games. The Double-A Northeast League features all the same former Eastern League opponents, except the Somerset Patriots, the New York Yankees’ new Double-A affiliate. For the 2021 season, each series will be six games against the same opponent.

The RubberDucks 2021 season includes multiple home holiday game days including Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 9, the Fourth of July on Sunday, July 4, and Labor Day weekend Sept. 3-5. The longest homestand at Canal Park in 2021 will feature the Erie SeaWolves and Bowie Baysox for twelve games in 13 days, beginning Tuesday, June 22 and concluding with an Independence Day celebration on Sunday, July 4.

The Akron RubberDucks will continue to closely adhere to all safety guidance from all local and state health officials in preparing for the upcoming season at Canal Park. Seating capacities for upcoming events at Canal Park have not yet been determined, and the RubberDucks will announce those details at a later date.
