MLB’s No. 10 & Arizona’s Top Prospect Jordan Lawlar Joins the Aces
RENO, Nev. – As the Reno Aces continue their red-hot August, with a Pacific Coast League-best 10-2 record in the month, the club is adding to its MiLB-leading offense with the announcement of the Arizona Diamondbacks' top prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, Jordan Lawlar, to the club’s roster before its series against the Las Vegas Aviators, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, on Tuesday.
The promotion comes after collecting base hits in 10 of his last games, including a nine-game hit streak. In 89 games at Double-A Amarillo, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ first-round selection in 2021 notched a .263 batting average with 41 extra-base hits and 48 RBI. He also ranked second in the Texas League in runs (77) while sitting sixth in the circuit in stolen bases (33) before joining the Aces.
Since the All-Star break (July 14th), the 2021 Gatorade 2021 Texas High School Player of the Year recipient from Dallas’ Jesuit Prep has hit .312 (29-for-93) with a team-leading 26 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Additionally, he’s tallied ten doubles, three home runs, and 12 RBI in 24 games with the Sod Poodles.
The Aces will begin a six-game series against their Silver-State rivals, the Las Vegas Aviators, Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Game one is set for Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. PT from Greater Nevada Field.
