Moonshiners Walk off on Batavia

GRANVILLE, WV - In the series finale at Monongalia County Ballpark, the West Virginia Moonshiners pulled out a dramatic 4-3 win over the Batavia Muckdogs.
West Virginia celebrated its second annual Moonshiners series and featured alternate jerseys that paid homage to West Virginia's rich history and culture. The team store also featured exclusive gear that brandished the Moonshiners' logo.
Batavia opened the scoring the top of the second on a wild pitch to give the visitors a one-run lead, but West Virginia came roaring back in the third inning. 3B Jared Triolo cranked a single into left field to plate a run and tie the score at 1-1.
The Muckdogs rallied in the fifth to retake the lead on the road. A pair of RBI hits drove home a pair of baserunners to put the visitors on top heading to the late innings.
Looking to keep the game close, the Moonshiners turned to RHP Grant Ford out of the bullpen, and the first-year pro delivered. The reliever tossed four scoreless innings, as he allowed only two hits and one walk to go with eight strikeouts
With Ford dealing on the mound, it was up to the West Virginia offense to chip away at the deficit. RF
Then in the bottom of the ninth, the Moonshiners showed their flare for the dramatic. Citta plated another baserunner on a sac fly to tie the game up at three apiece with only one out in the final frame.
