Morales Homers in Third Straight Game but Loons Commit Six Errors in 8-2 Loss

DAYTON, Ohio. – The Great Lakes Loons (57-44) (21-16) committed six errors in an 8-2 loss against the Dayton Dragons (56-47) (17-20) on an 86-degree partly cloudy Thursday night at Day Air Ballpark.

- Emil Morales smashed a solo home run in the fourth inning, his third in three straight games. The 19-year-old has seven homers against the Dayton Dragons this season. Seven is the most against Dayton by a Loon all-time. Morales bested the previous leader James Outman who had six in 109 at-bats. Morales has 55 at-bats versus the Dragons.

- Dayton scored in four half-innings, in each the Loons committed at least one error. John Michael Faile led the Dragons with three RBI. Faile singled in the first, an error moved the runner who scored to third base. Faile added a sacrifice fly in the seventh, Julio Carreras reached base on an error by Jose Meza. The other RBI was a solo home run in the sixth, Faile’s fifth in 61 games in High-A in 2026.

- The Dragons tallied five runs in the third inning. Kyle Henley tripled with the bases loaded. Jacob Frost walked five Dayton batters, two in the third inning.

- Gio Cueto homered for the first time as a Loon. The 23-year-old connected on a first pitch from Jordan Little in the seventh inning and put it over the left field fence. Little earned the win for Dayton, totaling six outs, five via punchout.

Rounding Things Out

The Loons six errors tonight are the most in a game since April 17th, 2022, at Peoria when they also committed six errors.
