SAN ANTONIO – After trailing for most of the ballgame, the San Antonio Flying Chanclas scored twice in the ninth inning. The game winning run scored courtesy of a wild pitch.

It was a pitcher’s duel early on between the Baton Rouge Rougarou and San Antonio Flying Chanclas. Alec Martinez struck out five Rougarou hitters in the first two innings.

The Flying Chanclas were the first to get on the scoreboard. In the third inning, following a double from Cole Posey, Ryan Flores later grounded out to score Posey.

Baton Rouge tied things up in the top of the fourth inning. The Rougarou began the inning with three straight base hits, scoring once. Martinez was able to retire the next three batters to keep the inning from getting out of hand. Martinez finished the night with one run allowed and seven strikeouts in six innings of work.

Facing Dylan Johnson, Baton Rouge was able to get a run across in the top of ninth inning to take a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, San Antonio began the inning with back-to-back walks. Evan Maldonado reached on a bunt single. Marcos Villegas tied the game with an RBI single to score Ian Bailey. Kade Fletcher, who pinch ran earlier in the inning, scored the winning run on a wild pitch from Gage Bihm.

Jarek Wells records the win with Bihm recording the loss.

The San Antonio Flying Chanclas improve to 14-4 on the season. They are back in action Saturday, June 27th at Wolff Stadium against Baton Rouge. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m.
