MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds continued a 12-game road trip at the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on Saturday night with a 5-3 victory at 121 Financial Ballpark.
First baseman Taylor Motter boosted the offense with his first two-homer game of the season in Saturday night’s win. Motter extended the Memphis lead to 4-1 with a two-run shot in the third inning and added insurance with a solo shot in the eighth. With the two blasts, the infielder now has five home runs at Triple-A this season.
Memphis starter Michael McGreevy (5-1) tossed 6.0 innings, allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out a Triple-A career-high nine batters. For the first time with Memphis this season, the right-handed pitcher did not walk a batter. Gordon (H, 1) Graceffo tossed two scoreless innings in relief in his first appearance off of the Injured List while Kodi Whitley (S, 3) completed the ninth.
In his first game of a MLB Rehab Assignment, designated hitter Lars Nootbaar went 0-for-4.
The Redbirds (36-32) return to AutoZone Park on Wednesday, June 28 to begin a six-game homestand at 7:05p.m. CDT against the Nashville Sounds. You can find more information on upcoming promotions at AutoZone Park here.
