CHARLESTON, W. Va. (June 12, 2019) - Steven Moyers tossed seven scoreless innings to guide West Virginia to a 1-0, sweep-clinching victory over the Delmarva Shorebirds Wednesday night at Appalachian Power Park.
Moyers (6-4) ran into a bit of trouble early, as the left-hander danced around a couple of Delmarva (46-19) base hits in the top of the first to work a scoreless frame. He then settled down to hurl seven strong innings and tally six strikeouts, his second straight outing of seven innings this season. Moyers has now thrown four consecutive quality starts and six in his last seven games.

Shorebirds starter Nick Vespi (3-4) battled pitch-for-pitch with Moyers, as he surrendered just three hits through six innings and struck out eight batters.
In the seventh inning, the lefty conceded a leadoff single to Bobby Honeyman before issuing back-to-back walks to Onil Pena and Jake Anchia that loaded the bases and brought Vespi's outing to a close. Jhon Peluffo entered, with the bases loaded and no one out, to face Joseph Rosa, who drove in Honeyman on a sacrifice fly to make it 1-0 Power (33-33).
Devin Sweet relieved Moyers and spun a scoreless eighth inning, while Dayeison Arias (S,4) tossed a hitless ninth to pick up his fourth save of the season. Arias has not allowed an earned run in his last 14 appearances, spanning 19.2 innings.
