Multi-Homer Game for Kody Clemens Backs Seth Johnson’s Stellar Outing in IronPigs Victory over Mets

Allentown, Pennsylvania (August 30, 2024) – Seth Johnson spun six marvelous shutout innings and was supported by a two-homer game for Kody Clemens in a 5-1 win for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (61-65, 27-26) over the Syracuse Mets (70-58, 24-30) on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.

Clemens hit his first homer of the ballgame, a solo shot, with one out in the second inning to start scoring for both teams.

In the fourth, Clemens began the frame with another homer, his 14th of the season. David Dahl then singled and came in to score on a Cody Roberts single that included an accompanying error allowing Dahl to cross home. Roberts ended up at third on the play and ultimately scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0.

Syracuse got their only run of the game on a wild pitch that scored Yolmer Sanchez in the eighth. The ‘Pigs neutralized that run however with one of their own in the bottom of the eighth on a Jim Haley RBI fielder’s choice.

Johnson (2-0) earned his second consecutive win for the IronPigs, firing six shutout innings, allowing just a hit and a walk, striking out five. He retired the final 13 batters he faced.

Joander Suarez (0-1) took the loss for the Mets, allowing four runs, three earned on seven hits and a walk, striking out four over four innings.

The IronPigs and Mets continue their series on Saturday, August 31st with first pitch slated for 6:35 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park. Kolby Allard (2-7, 5.45) goes for the IronPigs while the Mets roll Dom Hamel (3-7, 6.50)
