Myrtle Beach Holds Off Augusta in Game Four

Pelicans Top GreenJackets for Third Straight Night

*NORTH AUGUSTA, SC: *The Augusta GreenJackets (9-17) fell short against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (16-12) again on Friday night as they were defeated 5-2.

The first run of the game for Myrtle Beach came in the first inning on an error to put Augusta in an early 1-0 hole.

However, the GreenJackets would tie the game in the bottom of the second thanks to Adam Zebrowski who doubled down the left field line to score Stephen Paolini to square the game up at one apiece.

The Pelicans would move back in front in the fourth on a two-out, two-run homer by Ethan Hearn to give Myrtle Beach a 3-1 advantage.

It would remain a 3-1 game until the sixth inning when Adam Zebrowski came through with another run-producing hit by dropping a base-hit into center field to bring home Brandon Parker to make it a one-run game at 3-2.

But Myrtle Beach would produce an answer once more by scoring two key runs in the seventh to give themselves their largest lead of the night at 5-2.

Augusta developed their best threat of the night in the bottom of the eighth inning as they loaded the bases with one out for Adam Zebrowski, but Pelicans' pitcher Johzan Oquendo got Zebrowski to ground into a double play and end the inning with no runs scoring.

In the ninth, the GreenJackets got something going right away with consecutive walks to start the inning. However, Oquendo and Alfredo Zarraga combined to strike out the next three hitters to slam the door on Augusta 5-2 to win their third straight at SRP Park.

Tyler Santana (8-1) earned the win for the Pelicans with Alfredo Zarraga (4) picking up the save by recording the final out. Jorge Bautista (0-2) was the losing pitcher for Augusta.

Adam Zebrowski was the top performer offensively for the GreenJackets on Friday night as he reached three times including a double and single that each produced an RBI. Brando Parker and Stephen Paolini both also recorded multiple hits as they each also reached base safely three times.

The GreenJackets will look to put an end to their losing streak on Saturday night as they send AJ Smith-Shawver to the mound to face Sam Thoresen for the Pelicans with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 pm.

Saturday is Marvel Defender of the Diamond Night where the GreenJackets will where special Marvel Jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game to benefit Walton Options! In addition, there’s live pregame music from the Brand Band from 4:30-5:30 as part of the White Claw Pregame Concert Series with another Fireworks Extravaganza following the game!
